Results of Actions in the World of Computers

Grace Hopper was the one who programed the first commercial computer and the first compiler in the United States. She is honored and respected by women, people in computing, and by military officers. The is the focus of GHC (Grace Hopper Celebration) in Women in Computing, and serves as a role model for many women who are intersting in leaving a big mark in the advancement in computers. She was the creator of the first computer compiler which enables computers to translate numbers and codes into english, and is the base of many modern programs such as C++. Although old programs like COBOL and computers like the Mark I and II are no longer in use, they served as a major stepping stone in the advancement of computers in America.


Results of Actions in the Navy

Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper was the oldest person in active duty when she retired from the United States Navy in 1986. As the first woman to reach the rank of Rear Admiral and as a strong woman contributing to the knowledge of computers to the Navy, she recieved many awards including the Navy Meritorrous Service Medal. As a further sign of honor from the Navy, and Ageis Destroyer was named the"Amazing Grace" after Grace Hopper who truly was amazing.
